About the Department
The Department of Zoology offers under & post graduation programme. The department has registered a growth, right from its inception in UG 1971 & PG 2018. The department has well equipped Microbiology Laboratory with sophisticated instruments, a museum with very rare collection of animal specimens and latest books in the Departmental library to cater to the needs of students. The students have secured 29 University Ranks. Zoology Department has organized State level, National level, International conference on Cancer Biology, Science Academies Lecture Workshop & 14 days Refresher Course. The Department of Zoology has received funds from various funding agencies like UGC, IASc, ICMR, INSA, DBT, TANSCST, IARA, IIS and IF.

To provide opportunities for Self-employment in Apiculture, Aquaculture, Sericulture, Vermiculture and Poultry science.
To bring about an awareness regarding Nature and Biodiversity and help to solve
different problems to establish sound and Peaceful Environment.
To get basic skills in the observation and study of animals, plants, nature,
biological techniques, chemical tech, experimental skills and scientific
investigation.
To study the invertebrate animals and vertebrate animals with interest in
and love of nature with its myriad living creatures.
To get basic knowledge and skills in certain applied branches to enable them for self-employment in Apiculture, Sericulture, sericulture, poultry form and aquaculture.
To understand the awareness of the conservation of the biosphere and
wild life.
To understand the unity of life with the rich diversity of organisms and
their ecological and evolutionary significance.
Impart basic knowledge of various branches of Zoology and General
biology meant both for a graduate terminal course and for higher studies
on M.Sc. M.Phil., and Research.

B.Sc., Zoology as a Major subject with allied subject may be one of the following, Physics, Zoology, Botany, and Biochemistry. The Candidate should have scored the minimum percentage of marks as per prevailing norms.

M.Sc., Chemistry as a Major subject with allied subject may be one of the following, Physics, Zoology, Botany, and Biochemistry. The Candidate should have scored the minimum percentage of marks as per prevailing norms.

The theory and practical aspects of the subject augment the ability of the learner to understand the implications of scientific approaches involved in the domain of knowledge.
