NSS
About NSS
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India, functioning under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It was launched on 24th September 1969 to mark the birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi, who strongly believed in the value of community service in nation-building.
The scheme aims to develop the personality and character of student youth through voluntary community service. By participating in various social activities, NSS volunteers contribute to the well-being of society while also enhancing their leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Motto of NSS
"Not Me, But You"
This motto reflects the essence of democratic living and emphasizes the importance of selfless service, prioritizing the needs of the community over individual interests. It inspires volunteers to develop a sense of social responsibility and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
