About the Department
In 1971, the Department of Botany was established. It is an ancillary department that teaches ancillary Botany to UG Zoology major and non-major elective botany to UG Chemistry major. The department is offering 30-hours certificate programmes for students to learn self-employment skills.
Understand the Various Groups of Lower Plants and their Economic Importance.
Understand the Concept of Plant Ecology, Vegetation, Plant Taxonomy, Medicinal Plants and the key Aspects of Embryology of Angiosperms.
Learn the Techniques of Plant Tissue Culture, Mushroom Cultivation, Biofertilizers, Compositing and Organic Farming.
Know the Metabolic Activities of Plants like Absorption, Ascent of Sap, Transpiration, Photosynthesis, Respiration and Growth.
Acquired the knowledge to construct Kitchen Garden, Orchards, Bonsai, Rockery, Indoor Gardening and Horticultural Practices for Propagation.
